One
of many retirement villages built in NSW by Southern
Cross Homes is located in Marsfield just behind a historical
building operated as a reception place called Curzon
Hall. Tully Architects designed the various buildings
to blend into the country style landscape as a mixture
of one and two storey independent living units. The
site consisted of filling placed over old wetlands and
Kneebone & Beretta Consulting Engineers Pty Ltd
adopted a foundation system consisting of drilled pier
holes and footing beams under all brick walls with both
ground and upper floors suspended on such walls. Roofs
were designed using timber roof trusses enabling the
builder, Co-Wyn Constructions to complete the job in
time and to budget.

This
development is just one of over ten similar retirement
villages and hostels which Kneebone & Beretta Consulting
Engineers Pty Ltd designed for Southern Cross Homes.
Similar developments have been and are currently being
designed for the Uniting Church. |
